Home Insurance

When you’re comparing insurance policies for home sweet home, you don’t want to compare apples to oranges.

A single variance from one policy to another can be the difference between “Phew, we can fix this,” and “What do you mean my policy doesn’t cover this?!”
That’s where working with an independent agent can help. They’ll take the time to understand your needs and make sure you’re not missing a key piece of protection for your home and everything inside it. For example:
  • Back up of sewers and drains. This is one of the biggest coverage gaps for most homeowners today. Can you afford to repair or replace your entire basement if sewer or drain backup causes it to flood?
  • Home replacement cost. Many homeowners think that the cost to replace their home is somehow related to its market value. Not so. Added costs for purchasing new materials, removing debris, hiring specialized contractors and more can all add up. The same idea applies to your personal belongings, too. Would you want your home and everything inside replaced exactly the way they were if you suffered a total loss?
  • Jewelry, artwork and collectibles. Some things are worth more than money. But if a high-value item gets damaged or stolen, would you at least want compensated for it?
  • Identity theft protection. Every three seconds, someone in the U.S. becomes a victim of identity theft.1 Would you want professional help in restoring your identity, notifying credit bureaus and creditors and preparing a case file to help law enforcement solve the crime?
  • Renters and condo insurance. Planning on downsizing or have a dependent who’s moving out on their own?
  • Personal umbrella. If you were sued for property damage, character defamation, libel or something else, would you be able to afford the settlement?
  • Equipment breakdown. Would you be prepared to pay for a brand new heating, cooling or ventilation system if it had a sudden accidental breakdown? Do you own a backup generator or pool equipment that you’d want covered?
  • Assisted living care. Would you like to have some added protection for a loved one’s personal belongings while they’re in an assisted living facility?
